XenCenter

Export a Snapshot to a File

When you export a VM snapshot, it is saved as a VM template in an XVA file in the location of your choice. This template contains a complete copy of the snapshot (including disk images). You can then import the template and use it to create a VM in the same or in a different resource pool.

To export a snapshot to a file

  1. On the Snapshots tab, select the snapshot, select Actions, and then select Export Snapshot as Template.
  2. On the page Export File Details of the wizard, enter the XVA file name and browse to locate the folder where you want to create the file. Click Next to continue.
  3. On the Finish page, review the settings you have selected. To have XenCenter verify the exported package, select the Verify export on completion check box. Then select Finish to begin the export.

To export an orphan snapshot

If the original VM used to create the snapshot has been deleted, you can export the snapshot as follows:

  1. In the Resources pane, switch to Folder View.
  2. Select to expand the Objects by Type group and then expand the Snapshots group.
  3. Select the snapshot then right-click and select Export to File on the context menu.
  4. On the page Export File Details of the wizard, enter the XVA file name and browse to locate the folder where you want to create the file. Click Next to continue.
  5. On the Finish page, review the settings you have selected. To have XenCenter verify the exported package, select the Verify export on completion check box. Then select Finish to begin the export.
